Hemingbrough 2-3 LNER Builders - F1 Racing Sunday Morning Division Four

Sunday 23 November 2008

The Sunday side suffered back to back defeats for the first time this season as a disappointing second half saw LNER take all 3 points.

Things began well for the home side as Richie Collins stung the hands of the keeper within the first couple of minutes. Moments later and Collins provided the cross which allowed Manager Richard Ireland to flick the ball into the net to give 'Boro' the lead. The home side continued to create chances with Dave Young and Craig Haythorne going close the extending the lead.

Minutes after the restart and the visitors were level as a ball into the box wasn't defended properly and the loose ball was put away as 'Boro' were pegged back. LNER took the lead for the first time on the hour mark as the 'Boro' defence waited for an offside decision that never came which left the striker with the easiest of tap in's after the ball was cut back from the byline.

Hemingbrough responded well and with 20 minutes remaining Haythorne equalised when his 20 yard free kick squirmed under the keeper's body to make it all square. However, with the home side pressing for the winner, they were caught on the break and it was LNER who grabbed the winner with 10 minutes left on the clock. Richie Collins was the well deserved man of the match.

On Sunday, the team visit St John University for an FA Junior Cup 3rd Round tie.

Hambleton Lions 6-5 Hemingbrough United

Sunday 16 November 2008

Hemingbrough snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in this F1 Racing Division 4 clash.

Hambleton started the brightest and could have been two goals up within the first 10 minutes, as Hemingbrough struggled to get into the game. A change in formation soon after helped stem the Hambleton attacks and gave Hemingbrough the chance to push forward and within 5 minutes the Boro were ahead as Harry Jackson tucked away a Guy May free kick.

The Boro then doubled their tally after Ade Wood turned past 2 defenders in the box and curled the ball into the roof of the net.

Hambleton kept pushing on and soon pulled a goal back and could have equalised before half time but for some brave goal-keeping by Tom Jackson and goal line clearances from Shipley and Matthew Zacharenko.

Alex Bentley extended the Boro’s lead with a fine 25 yard strike just after the break before Hambleton scored their 2nd. A long throw by May was punched into his own goal by the unlucky keeper under pressure from Briggs to make it 4-2 and Luke Zacharenko thought he had sealed the victory for the Boro with 20 minutes remaining when he converted a penalty after Wood was felled in the box.

This fifth goal shocked Hambleton back into action and they soon started to take control of the game and their constant pressure was rewarded as they quickly got 2 goals back to make the score 5-4 and with 10 minutes remaining the comeback was complete as Hambleton made it 5-5.

Unfortunately for Hemingbrough, Hambleton were not finished and they completed a remarkable turnaround by scoring a fully deserved 6th goal in the dying minutes of the match to snatch the victory.

F1 Racing 0-5 Hemingbrough - Sunday Morning FA Junior Cup 2nd Round

Sunday 9 November 2008

Hemingbrough advanced to the next round with a comfortable victory away at F1 Racing, even though they had to play the last half hour with 10 men.

'Boro' adapted to the blustery conditions well and were soon carving out numerous chances which Haythorne and Wood were unable to convert. However, the opening goal soon arrived on 15 minutes, Luke Zacharenko forced a good save from the keeper and although Haythorne was denied from the rebound, the ball fell nicely for Guy May to score from 6 yards. May soon doubled his tally as he finished well after been put through by Clark and when Pete Foxley lobbed the keeper from corner of the penalty area, Hemingbrough were in cruise control.

The second half brought more joy for 'Boro' as Haythorne set up Zacharenko to score from 8 yards. However, on the hour mark Clark was sent off for what the Referee deemed as violent conduct. This allowed the home side to become more involved in the game but Foxley and Craig Lee were alert to the danger along with Briggs in the 'Boro' goal.

There was still time for the visitors to add to the scoring as May set up veteran war horse Richie Collins who cooly lobbed the keeper from 20 yards as 'Boro' progressed to set up a round 3 clash with St John University. May and Foxley shared the man of the match award.

This Sunday sees Hemingbrough travel to Hambleton Lions for a tasty looking local derby.

Hemingbrough 6-0 Yearsley Forest - F1 Racing Sunday Morning Division 4

Sunday 2 November 2008

Hemingbrough made it seven games unbeaten on Sunday with this thrashing of Yearsley.

Luke Zacharenko got the ball rolling with a spectacular 30 yard strike that flew into the top corner to give 'Boro' the lead. Moments later and it was 2-0 as Zacharenko turned provider to set up Briggs to score from close range. The visitors then hit the post and had two good claims for a penalty turned down by Referee Stu Hamilton.

The second half saw the home side in complete control and Craig Haythorne scored following a goal mouth scramble. Haythorne then grabbed his second of the game with a 25 yard thunderbolt that went in off the bar. Sub Ricki Hutton then got in on the act as he calmly lobbed the keeper after being put through by Harry Jackson. Jackson completed the rout with a low drive inside the area as Hemingbrough's winning run continues. Craig Haythorne was voted man of the match.

On Sunday 'Boro' are away to F1 Racing in the second round of the FA Junior Cup.

FC Gardeners 0 - 2 Hemingbrough United

Sunday 26 October 2008

Hemingbrough were made to work hard in this East Riding Cup tie in Hull. The first half started off brightly for the 'Boro' but despite all the pressure FC Gardeners defended stubbornly to limit the 'Boro's' chances.

Hemingbrough finally made the breakthrough halfway through the second half when substitute Foxley's cross could only be flicked on by the defender after pressure from Matthew Zacharenko, before the ball fell to younger brother Luke who connected first time with a 'peach' of a volley.

Briggs thought he had added a second when a thunderous header cannoned off the underside of the crossbar before bouncing out but despite his celebrations the referee deemed the ball to not of crossed the line.

Some good work in the box by the 'Boro' attack led to Hemingbrough's second and sealed the game with Wood heading the ball over the line.

Steven Irving was awarded the man of the match after some solid defending along with the rest of the defence allowed Jackson a quiet morning between the posts.

St John University 2-3 Hemingbrough - F1 Racing Sunday Morning Division 4

Sunday 19 October 2008

The Sunday side recorded an impressive victory against fellow promotion contenders St John University to maintain their unbeaten start in the league.

The students began brightly but the back four of Clark, Brooks, Matt Zacharenko and Falkingham aided by Tom Jackson in goal stood firm to alleviate any danger. The best chance of the half fell to Adie Wood but he shot over the bar from close range.

'Boro' began the second half the quick out of the blocks, so it was no surprise that they took the lead as Luke Zacharenko beat the offside trap to slot past the keeper. The lead should have been doubled moments later as Hutton rounded the keeper but his shot clipped the cross bar. This proved costly as the hosts drew level when a cross from the right was headed in at the far post.

Zacharenko then scored his second of the game as his left four effort squirmed under the keeper's body and trickled over the line. Sub Kev Kozicki then hit the bar before Hutton set up Alex Bentley to score to give Hemingbrough daylight. The uni students scored again in the closing stages but 'Boro' held on to secure the win. Matty Clark was voted the Crown man of the match.

'Boro' travel to FC Gardeners of Hull on Sunday for an East Riding Cup 2nd round tie.

Cue Ball Fulford 3-7 Hemingbrough - Sunday Morning Grand Central League Cup Round Two

Sunday 12 October 2008

Hemingbrough were in seven heaven on Sunday as they progressed to the last 16 of the competition with an emphatic win against a side two divisions above them.

It only took 10 minutes for them to get the ball rolling as Guy May scored at the second time of asking after his first shot was saved following a through ball from Craig Haythorne. However, a defensive lapse allowed Cue Ball to equalise against the run of play.

The goal didn't deter Hemingbrough and moments later May scored his 2nd of the game with a left foot strike from 18 yard before Haythorne mirrored his team mate with a similar goal to make it 3-1. 'Boro' were now in complete control so it was no surprise that they scored again through a Luke Zacharenko header from a corner. Adie Wood then got in on the act as he scrambled the ball home to make it 5-1 at half time.

A slow start to the second half allowed the hosts to score twice in quick succession to remind 'Boro' that the game wasn't over. However, on 65 minutes a Haythorne corner was sliced into his own net by a Cue Ball player to give Hemingbrough breathing space. Matt Shipley was then denied by the cross bar before May completed his hat-trick in the dying moments. May was later voted sponsors and players man of the match.

On Sunday 'Boro' are back in league action with a tough looking game away to St John University.

LNER Builders 4-4 Hemingbrough (AET, 'Boro' win 7-6 on pens) - Sunday Morning FA Junior Cup Round One

Sunday 5 October 2008

Stand in keeper Matty Clark was the hero for Hemingbrough as they required penalties to see off a spirited LNER side.

In a dour first half, the only thing to shout about for both sides was a Luke Zacharenko strike that gave Hemingbrough the lead at the interval.

However, within minutes of the second half LNER hit back with a left foot strike that gave Clark no chance. Falkingham almost restored the lead for 'Boro' but his shot clipped the bar as the game went to extra time.

Shocking defending from the Hemingbrough allowed the home side to score twice to give LNER a 3-1 lead, however Harry Jackson reduced the arrears on the stroke of half time with a tap in following good work from May. In the second period Adie Wood made it 3-3 with a header at the far post, before LNER restored their lead with a close range finish. Wood then scored his second of the game to force spot kicks.

In the shootout, Clark saved two penalties and scored one himself as 'Boro' advanced to the next round.

This Sunday 'Boro' are once again in cup action as they travel to Cue Ball Fulford for a Grand Central League Cup 2nd Round tie.

Hemingbrough United 4-1 Bilton Grange Lions

Sunday 28 September 2008

Hemingbrough eased past Bilton Grange Lions in this first round East Riding Cup tie.

The hosts started off the brightest and thought they had taken an early lead when Harry Jackson finished off a good move only for the referee to disallow the goal for offside.

A few minute later the ‘Boro’ finally got the goal they deserved when Ricki Hutton found himself through on goal and placed it past the keeper.

Hemingbrough then had Tom Jackson to thank after two fine saves from the ‘keeper kept Bilton from getting back into the game before Luke Zacharenkos back heel flick made it 2-0 to give ‘Boro’ some breathing space before Half Time.

Zacharenko added a third for the Boro early in the second half after a clever free kick before Bilton pulled one back to rekindle their hopes that the game wasn’t over. Unfortunately for them within 5 minutes Zacharenko completed his first hatrick of the season from the spot after Harry Jackson was brought down to finish off the game.

Hemingbrough came close to extending their lead with Briggs hitting the crossbar after some good work from Lee before Hemingbrough played out the remaining minutes to take them through to the next round.

Alex Bentley took the man of the match after an outstanding performance in midfield. Next week the Sunday side are in cup action again, with an away trip to LNER Builders in the York FA Cup.

Cue Ball Fulford Reserves 0-8 Hemingbrough - F1 Racing Sunday Morning Division 4

Sunday 21 September 2008

The Sunday side made it 3 wins out of 3 for Hemingbrough this weekend with a trouncing win away at Cue Ball. However, it took them until the half hour mark to get the scoring under way as Dave Young fired in from 18 yards. Adie Wood then doubled their lead with a solo effort and Harry Jackson made it 3-0 at half time scoring from close range following good work from Hutton. In the second half, Jackson grabbed his 2nd from the spot after Wood was fouled in the area and Wood himself scored again to make it 5-0. Hemingbrough were rarely troubled at the back and looked like scoring at every opportunity, so it was no suprise that Wood completed his hat-trick with a header. Two late goals from Guy May and Nathan Briggs completed the scoring for the game to get the Sunday teams league campaign off to a winning start. Sponsors man of the match was Kev Kozicki with Dave Young receiving the players vote.

Hemingbrough 4-5 Turf Tavern - Where in York Trophy 1st Round

Sunday 14 September 2008

A poor first half display proved to be Hemingbrough's downfall as they crashed out of the Where in York Trophy at the first round stage.

The hosts began the game well and should have taken an early lead but Adie Wood failed to keep his shot down from 12 yards. This miss proved costly as moments later the visitors took the lead as a cross from the left wasn't cleared properly and a Tavern player fired in the loose ball at the far post to give the away side the lead.

However, moments later 'Boro' were back in the game as some generous defending allowed Ricki Hutton to bare down on goal and he laid the ball across the 6 yard area for Luke Zacharenko to tap home the equaliser. This should have given Hemingbrough a platform in which to build from but a shocking last 15 minutes saw them concede 3 times to go in at half time 4-1 down.

Changes were made during the interval in an attempt to get back in the game and within 10 minutes of the restart they were given a lifeline as a deflected effort from Hutton wrong footed the Tavern keeper to pull a goal back for 'Boro'. However, 2 minutes later more poor defending from the home aside gave Tavern their 5th goal of the game as the striker fired low passed Alex Bentley in the home goal.

Hemingbrough kept pressing during the last 30 minutes and two quick fire goals from Hutton and Zacharenko gave 'Boro' real hope of pulling off a great comeback. Unfortunately lady luck wasn't on their side as first Wood had a header hit the bar and then Craig Haythorne saw his shot cleared off the line as Tavern hung on to secure their place in the 2nd round at Hemingbrough's expense.

This Sunday Hemingbrough kick off their league campaign with a trip to Cue Ball Fulford Reserves.

This weekend also see's both Saturday sides begin their new campaigns as the First team travel to Rawcliffe Rangers in the Junior League Cup 2nd Round whilst the Reserves play their first league game at home to Huby.

Wilberfoss 3-5 Hemingbrough Sunday Team (AET) - Grand Central League Cup 1st Round

Sunday 31 August 2008

The newly reformed Sunday side needed extra time to see off Wilberfoss in this Grand Central League Cup 1st round tie. The home side began the game brightly and created more of the chances early on but keeper Tom Jackson in the 'Boro' goal pulled off a couple of smart saves to keep the scoreline goaless.

However, on 25 minutes the home side's pressure finally told as a cross from the right was drilled in at the far post to give Wilberfoss the lead. A change in formation from Hemingbrough soon brought a change in fortune as good build up play from the back released Adie Wood down the right and his cross found the unmarked Ricki Hutton who initially hit the post but was on hand to put in the rebound to make it all square going into the interval.

Hemingbrough began the 2nd period all guns blazing but wasted glorious opportunities to take the lead with Luke Zacharenko and Wood both guilty of missing chances. However, Wood soon made amends as he latched on to Harry Jackson's long ball and took it round the advancing keeper to score which gave 'Boro' the lead for the first time. Pete Foxley and Matty Clarke were soild in the centre of defence as Hemingbrough looked like they would hold on but with 7 minutes remaining Wilberfoss forced a corner and an unmarked player snuck in to fire the ball into the roof of the net to take the game into extra time.

The first half of extra time belonged to Hemingbrough as Adie Wood added his 2nd of the game with a 20 yard shot which flew into the top corner to restore the away side's lead, and when a Wilberfoss player handled in the area, Zacharenko scored from the spot to give 'Boro' breathing space. The second period saw Wood complete his hat-trick as he ran through to slot past the keeper. Wilberfoss did grab a consolation late on but Hemingbrough hung on to secure their place in the next round.

Adie Wood took the man of the match award for his fine hat-trick. This Sunday Hemingbrough are in Cup action again as they entertain Turf Tavern.
