Reserve Team Match ReportS

By Oliver Falkingham

Hemingbrough United Reserves 0-1 Amotherby & Swinton Reserves - York Leeper Hare Reserve C

In a game with little chances, Amotherby snatched a late winner as 'Boro' began 2009 with a defeat.

The first half was a dull affair with neither side creating anything that troubled either defence as Shipley, Foxley and Irving stood for Hemingbrough. Boro's opportunities came from long distance notably from Ireland and Fulcher.

With temperatures dropping in the second half it was the away side who started to ask questions and keeper Matty Milburn had to be alert to pull off a couple of fine saves to deny the visitors. Sub Mark Livsey then shot wide for the home side as 'Boro' went in search of that all important goal.

However, with 7 minutes remaining an Amotherby corner was headed towards goal and was deemed to have crossed the line by the referee despite the best efforts of Milburn as the visitors claimed all 3 points.

Steve Irving was awarded the Crown Man of the Match while Richard Ireland took the Player's award.

The Reserves will look to get back to winning ways when they make the long trip to Malton & Norton.
