Hemingbrough United 4 Osbaldwick
Hemingbrough continued their 100% start to their league campaign with a comfortable 4-0 win over Osbaldwick. The visitors started well with the wind at their backs but Hemingbrough are learning quickly that they need to be patient and can’t always win a game in the first 15 minutes. They gradually picked up the pace with Haythorn and Wood causing problems down the both flanks and took the lead on 25 minutes when Jackson won the ball in the centre circle found Danny Young who in turn sent Zackarenko free to finish well. Ten minutes later Wood showed strength and pace to beat the full back and his cross was superbly headed home by Smith. As the poor conditions took there toll ‘Boro took control with Jackson and Young totally dominant in midfield. Wood made it 3-0 on 55 minutes smashing May’s free kick into the top corner and with 5 minutes remaining May picked up the ball on the half way line before beating the keeper from all of 45 yards. Another clean sheet was the icing on the cake as the team look forward to an important Christmas period. This Saturday they are at home to Selby RSSC in the quarter final of the York FA Cup - assuming all players survived last Saturday’s Christmas night out in York!! - followed by a top of the table clash against Post Office on Saturday 27th December – both matches at Hull Road. Danny Smith was voted The Crown Man of The Match with Harry Jackson and Danny Young sharing the player’s votes.
